Marjorie Olsen opened her salon in 1996 and built the salon’s reputation by teaching her staff the French haircutting techniques from Jacques Dessange/Paris that she studied when she worked with Carsten Wilms of Carsten Institute in Phoenix, AZ for 8 years. She received the “Best of Taos” award and has continually been voted number one every year. Education is an important part of developing new techniques which keeps Marjorie inspired and committed to helping her clients and staff to continually grow. Marjorie’s photography (images used on website and for advertising) is part of the many artistic endeavors that she enjoys. Fine art painting, amateur chef, or carving a line down the slopes of the magical mountain of Taos NM, Marjorie is passionately enjoying and living the dream.
Carolyn Jeantette began her career in hair design in 2000 and as been with Salon Marjorie since 2009. A native of Taos, Carolyn completed an apprenticeship program in Washington after graduating from the AVEDA Institute of New Mexico. Having long hair herself, she understands the challenges that come with creating long beautiful locks. Committed to the perfect cut and coloring techniques, she listens to her clients concerns while inspiring them to look and feel their best. A devoted mother of two boys, she envisions herself as a birthing doula in her next life.
Amber Brooke has been a color and precision cut specialist for 15 years. She owned Salon Ria Bella in Vermont, before relocating to Taos and joining Salon Marjorie in 2011. Amber’s training at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica and apprenticeship at the Vidal Sassoon Salon in San Francisco help her to create a precision cut that’s wash and wear. Amber loves working on textured and curly hair, as well as assisting bridal parties with up-dos and makeup. Having a passion for color, Amber provides clients with customized Aveda color using the latest techniques that bring vibrancy to both skin and hair.
Bobbi Jean Dowty is a San Francisco based stylist and educator with 16 years experience, Bobbi Jean trained with Bumble & Bumble University in New York City and Goldwell Academy in Santa Monica, CA. Passionately dedicated to her craft, she understands the importance of helping clients feeling refreshed and stylish. Specializing in modern coloring techniques, such as Balayage, precision cutting, and bridal updos, she is well versed in a variety of salon offerings. Combined with her attention for detailed consultations and product recommendations, Bobbi consistently exceeds her clients needs.
Emily Steele is a Licensed Integrative Massage Therapist who received her certification through the University of New Mexico and continues her training through Aveda. Utilizing different modalities of bodywork, Emily provides individual sessions for her clients tailored to meet their specific needs. With the entire Aveda product line at her disposal, customized Spa Facials, and Body Scrubs are also provided in the tranquil and warm Massage Room. Emily believes that bodywork isn’t just a luxury, but a vital part of healthcare; touch is an integral part to our physical, emotional and mental well-being. LMT #8268
Jessica Fitzgerald joined Team Marjorie in 2014 and has since become the full-time Salon Coordinator. Her background is in the body modification industry, but don't let the tattoos scare you! Jessica's aim is to make sure that both the clients and service providers have everything they need to have a relaxing and professional experience. She maintains the happy buzz of the salon, booking appointments, recommending products, creating the graphics for the salon's promotional imagery, providing refreshments and excellent customer service to everyone who walks through the door. In her free time, Jessica is a performer and visual artist.
Amy Ray has been a part of the Salon Marjorie family since 2009. As a Salon Coordinator and Makeup Artist, Amy provides serenity in the salon on Saturdays, combining her passion for customer service and intuiting customers’ needs. With over twenty years in the advertising and design industry, Amy also utilizes her organizational and management experience for booking national music talent. In her free time, she volunteers as a makeup artist for children’s theatre and is the mother of one pretty awesome daughter, if she does say so herself.
